Youth Skills Camp
Featuring Jay Gundy
Jay returns to Garden City for his second year where he will be responsible for outfielders and assisting with hitters. Coach Gundy’s playing career began in Omaha, NE where his was a member two State Championship teams with Ralston High School in 1995 and 1996. In 1997 he received All-Nebraska honors as a senior. After graduation Gundy attended Garden City Community College where he was a 2-year starter. In those two years as a Buster Garden City’s baseball team won the Sub-Regional title both years and as a sophomore won the Region VI championship and advanced to the Junior College World Series for the first time in school history. Jay received All-Jayhawk West honors as a sophomore. After leaving Garden City Gundy attended Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, IN where the Warriors finished 3rd in the 2000 NAIA World Series.
Coach Gundy’s coaching career began as an assistant at Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, NE in 2005. Jay stayed with Prep for two years before returning to Garden City last year. Gundy also coached with the Springfield Sliders of the Central Illinois Collegiate League last summer.
